VMWA Members

A VMWA Member is informed and is always looking to improve!
We operate off of the premise of respect and appreciation of all efforts that will increase our communication and operational skills. There are no better Movers anywhere!
In order to get the Customer to do more “Due Diligence” we have improved the web site to help them ascertain that their prospective Mover is licensed and legal to operate in Virginia.
Please take a few minutes to make sure all of your data is correct in the Find A Mover section especially the Virginia Certificate number. This will be, many times, the prospective Customer’s first impression of your company that you are legal and true. It is very important!
Additionally, check on DMV’s web site to make sure you are listed in the Authorized Carriers section for household goods.
Contact Roger Moody at roger.moody@verizon.net or call 434/993-2499 immediately if you discover a mistake on your individual account information or if you have a suggestion on improvements.
Educational Meetings

VMWA has educational meetings for the benefit of all Members. Our roster of Members ranges from the nation’s largest moving companies to the smallest operation and every size in between. However, the educational meetings are attended by all, and they are so very informative.

The winter cycle of meetings starts in January each year. In January, we focus on an ADMIN function, in February we focus on estimating practices, and in March we look at claims handling practices. Then in the fall, we focus on what is trending in the industry.

Notification of each meeting will be sent out to the VMWA Membership around three (3) weeks prior to the meeting date. The meetings are always informative, productive, and fun. It is good for all Members to know as many people as possible in our industry from around the state.
VMWA Membership Categories
There are two (2) classes of Mover membership in the VMWA.
Regular membership is made up from Movers that perform moving services on shipments moving within Virginia 31 miles or more that requires a DMV Certificate. They are seeking Tariff participation/assistance and general guidelines on the moving industry in Virginia. This level of membership allows Members to use the VMWA Tariff that is approved each year by DMV.
Supplier memberships are very important to VMWA Members since the Vendors are able to keep up with the activities of VMWA meetings and they get to meet personally the Members at the various educational meetings. The Supplier Members are listed on the monthly Fuel Surcharge Notice that is sent out to around 380 individuals that are associated with the moving industry here in Virginia.
The goal for VMWA is to create an operating environment that will deliver the very best moving services to the citizens of the Commonwealth.
Please send an email to Roger Moody, Executive Director, for an application for either the Regular Membership, Associate Membership, or Supplier Membership. Roger.Moody@verizon.net
